Some words from Mia age 4 1/2

It's been far too long since I recorded a few memories/conversations from Mia. She is cracking me up with all her questions and attempts to use large words and of course, dramatic break downs. I don't know when she got this old. I might die when she turns five. And there's a good chance I won't make it through teenage life in one piece with this little princess. It most definitely won't be boring!
note: I do understand that some of these stories don't always show MY good side and often there is contention going on. I'm ok with that, it's when the funny stuff recorded. That's just life. Mia really is very sweet the majority of the time.

Whenever I get ready (mostly Sundays) Mia will always compliment me: "Mom, (hands out to the side) you look SO dorable!! I LOVE that dress! Is it new?" Then she'll want to pick out my earrings. Always the same purple ones that I rarely ever wear.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mia: "Mom I am SO hungry. My tummy hurts. I just need a snack. Maybe....some fruit snacks?"
Me: hmm. that's not very healthy, how about I cut up some apples and an avocado?
Mia: Yeah! I love those!! And they're healthy like I learned on Sid the Science Kid!
(Her excellent food taste makes me so happy!)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After redoing our basement carpet, we bought a new dresser for Mia's room (she oddly has the nicest dresser in our house) and after it was in, Matt and I told her it was down there and her face got so excited and she said, "Are You EXHAUSTED!!!?"
Me: You mean 'are you serious?'
Mia: Yes!!!
*Looking at the dresser*
Mia: Aww Mom, the little drawers are so cute!!
Mia again: This is such a serious special day!!
Me: laughing and shaking my head, "It really is."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mia: Mom! Samantha is being so irritated!!!
Me: You mean she's being irritatING?
Mia: Mom. Just make her stop.
Obviously not time for a grammar lesson.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
While I'm trying to get desperately to get ready for work on a Wednesday morning and the girls are driving me crazy, I snapped at both of them to "get out of the bathroom now and give 5 minutes to get ready!"
Mia: turns her body with hand on hip and says all sassy, "Mom. I think YOU just need to get use to having kids around!!!" and walks away.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
While driving in car.
Mia: Mom, Please can I have some of your diet mt dew!?
Me: No. The answer is always no.
Mia: Mom!! I'm thirsty, please!!
Me: Mia, no. I'm not telling you again. It's NOT good for you and you can't have any. That's just the way it is!
Mia: ACTUALLY, the way it is, is it's not good for YOU EITHER, and you should at least share!!! humph..
(Yes, she has a point.)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shortly after the mt dew conversation, at Costco.
Mia: Please let me get that dress!! Please! I love it Mom!! I will be SO HAPPY if I get this dress and if I don't I will be so so mad. You didn't let me get that huge bear, I want this dress!
Me: I'm sorry babe, another dress is the last thing you need and we don't waste money on things we don't need.
Mia: (wide eyes, completely offended, locked jaw. Folds her arms and cries fake tears softly into her lap) while saying, "I can't believe this is ever happening to me...."
Mom: *ignoring Mia's moment and talking to Sam, holds up a shirt to myself and....
Mia: (Her head flies up and cocks to the side) "That shirt would NOT look cute on YOU at ALL!!!"
(and back to pouting...Hating my wardrobe has recently been the ultimate comeback)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After cleaning a lot and working out in the yard, Mia is bored, so I ask her:
Mia, you want to make some cookies with me?
Mia: Oh my goodness, YES!!! Did you know that is one of my most favorite things to do?
Me: I'm so glad! I love it too!
Mia: I guess this day really will be amazing! I didn't think so before!
Me: Well thank heavens!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After shopping for new clothes for Fall and going round and round with Mia about what clothes she likes and what she hates (she has very distinct tastes. It's lovely) The very next day, we pick out some clothes for her to wear (something we fight about often) and she says to me about her brand new cute shirt that she HAD to have:
"Ummm. (sigh) I don't... think... I really like that shirt anymore."
Me: very serious stone cold stare. "Mia."
Mia: "Don't get mad at me!! I just.. I just.. (using hand motions) I just have so many different feeling about my clothes!!" sits down deflated on her bed.
Me: "Umm, Ok well you sit in here and have your feelings about your clothes until you can figure out what to wear. I'm going upstairs."
Mia: total hysterics
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
About 5 times a day:
Mia: "Mom, can I watch a show?"
Me: "No, let's find something better to do."
Mia: "But it's the best thing to do!"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Constantly:
Mia: Mom, I just need some cuddles!
Me: Ok. Cuddle up.
while cuddled up on the couch, i of course start to close my eyes...
Mia: Mom! Don't close your eyes!
Me: But it feels so nice!
Mia: If you fall asleep, I'll be alone!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
While tucking Mia in:
Me: Love your guts kiddo. You were a great girl today!
Mia: Love YOUR guts mom!! You were....an ok mom today.... (while tilting her hand back and forth and making an iffy face..)
We focus on honesty in our household. And I guess it works.

You'll keep posting Mia quotes for along time, right? Even when she's 15? Especially when she's 15, cuz you're going to be so screwed. *evil laugh*
